This is one of my favorite photos of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. This was a day trip out of Florence, only an hour or so by train. From the train station, we took a cab and boy I'm glad we did. If you decide to walk, it'll probably take you about 20 minutes on a brisk pace. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes like sneakers and UGG boots if you're visiting Italy. See more photos.

The width of the walls at the base is 4.09 m (13.42 ft) and at the top 2.48 m (8.14 ft). Its weight is estimated at 14,500 metric tons.. The tower has 296 or 294 steps; the seventh floor has two fewer steps on the north-facing staircase. The tower leans at an angle of 3.97 degrees.

ReplyDeleteIt's funny only the tower gets promoted whereas the cathedral doesn't. I'm sure there's something interesting in it too, isn't it?
That's true JL. I wasn't even aware that it's a bell tower until I started reading up on it before our vacation.
